hotel, originally it was constructed on two levels in years ‘29 - ’30. It
begins its activity just few months later. Services and confort make of this
one of most sought-after hotel of province. For that epoch, hot and cold
running water in every room and full services of bath at every levels are
really a luxury. Details and furnishing are in tone with requirements of
class and courtliness of hosts of those times. During the period of Second
world conflict also San Mommè endures consequences of war with the presence
of the German soldiers which garrison the hilly zone overhanging the city in
order to watch the Gothic Line (which pass in the north of country) and to
inspect activity of railway line “Porrettana”, line of great strategic
importance for the economy of conflict and connections with the north Italy.

quarter. During the first months of ’45 Germans prepare strategy of theirs
retreat, mining also the hotel and the whole block of "Appalto Vecchio".
When they are forced to leave the zone, they make to explode the mines and
it doesn't remain nothing of the hotel excludes the south front and part of
the west front.
In the year ’46 between thousand difficulties, started the rebuilding, and
in the ’47, life of hotel retakes its course.
Until 1968, Albergo Guidi is the only hotel working on this territory.
In the first postwar period, came back desire to dance and spend the fresh
summery evenings in hill, the city's people begin to go up and throng all
togheter to Albergo Guidi where the orchestra directors Marino Menichini
with its accordion play the hits of that ephoc: “Rosamunda”, “Pippo Pippo
non lo sa…” etc.
Begins therefore increasing tourism that today is called “of week end”.
Until was born, Albergo Guidi, it has made the history of tourist sector,
not only for province of Pistoia but also for Bologne, Florence and Prato;
many vips of show, sport and politics, businessman and people of the high
bourgeoisie of those times are often hosts of "Cavaliere" Luigi's
beautiful rooms, owner and manager of hotel omonymus.
Today the hotel is managed by Cavaliere's family, and they continue to
operate in the activity of the hotel sector.
